The new 8-Bit System is a group of multi-tools designed to work together to solve most trailside fixes. They are lightweight, strong, versatile, and small enough to fit in a jersey pocket or riding tool wrap. Three multi-tools begin the 8-Bit System: 8-Bit Chainbreaker + Utility Knife Multi-Tool, 8-Bit Tire Lever + Rim Dent Remover Multi-Tool, and 8-Bit Pack Pliers. The Italian Army Knife, a very SILCA take on the traditional multi-tool. We've addressed the things that frustrate us with conventional multi-tools, while keeping the layout that fits conveniently in the SILCA EOLO Wallet or Seat Roll Premio. The mid-length tool design is long enough to provide access to recessed fasteners, but short enough not to experience twist or damage under moderate torque as can happen on longer tools. All tools are forged rather than bent from hex stock. While this method of construction is more expensive, the value is unquestioned during a road-side repair. Mid-length tools also allow us to position the tools within the same plane, reducing the thickness of the overall package by half. Double-chromed tools and fully stainless steel hardware and bushings guarantee a long life without corrosion (the number 1 killer of multi-tools is corrosion). When we launched Secret Chain Lube, Josh admitted that the starting point for this product was a hot wax recipe he had used for years with pro teams that had won numerous world and Olympic medals. As a result, chains waxed with Secret Chain Blend and Secret Chain Lube will actually get faster over time and after repeated waxings. Secret Chain Blend is the only hot wax lubricant to have a specifically matched and compatible drip wax that can be used to 'top off' the wax as needed, extending the duration between hot wax applications, and guaranteeing the quietest running drivetrain possible. Many chains use a master link that allows the chain to be installed and removed by hand. While master links don't require traditional chain tools, over time, dirt and corrosion can make it difficult to separate them by hand.
